Her future is in my hands?

Alright, I know I haven't typed my blog for a long time. It's been a very special year for me: I have become a mother! Alana has just turned one. I am very fortunate that I am a stay-at-home-mom which allows me to spend lots of time with my girl during the day. It was our decision right before getting married! I couldn't believe when we were still dating, Steve already said that I'd have to stay at home with our kids when we had ours. At that time, I couldn't understand why. Almost all of the moms I knew of were working moms and left their kids to their grandparents or maids. So, it sounded weird to me to stay home with my kid! TODAY, I finally realize how lucky I am! I can witness all of the milestones Alana's going to reach, make her homemade babyfoods, take her to the libraries or playdates whenever we want to. And the best thing? We bond really well. I certainly hope that she will know no matter what happens in the future, mammy and daddy are always with her.

In fact, I am having the advantage being a SAHM. I can teach her anything anytime! Since I spend so much time with her, what I do will become influential to her. I need to be a good model to her so that she will look up to me! I am pretty serious about finding fun ways to teach her. I did everything I could find, starting from using the babyplus prenatal education system daily during my pregnancy. Reading books to understand the brain development of babies and kids, to learn to teach babies sign language, and even how to teach babies to read and teach babies math! I am always reading something for Alana. I can't wait to put all the info I read into actions and programs for her! I do feel shameful that I am not doing much: only weekly visit to the library story time and bed time stories every night. ...

Anyway, I totally believe that the first six years of everyone's life is the gold age for learning anything! A human brain is the most amazing organ. It's the ONLY container of which it can be said that the more you put into it, the more it will hold.

Great! I am going to do my best, to teach her everything I know of, before she enters school. She'll enjoy going to school more if it's not the solely place for academic purpose. I want her to be an independent and life-long learner.

Now, I resume writing my blog to record our learning journey.
